Choosing a clawfoot bathtub and installing it

choosing and installing a clawfoot bathWhen you come to choosing a new clawfoot bathtub be sure to bear in mind your existing decor and to carefully plan exactly where the bath will be placed. Ensure that once it is placed, there will be sufficient room for a plumber to get in to lay the supply line and drain.

When fitting a supply line for a clawfoot bathtub that hfaucet holes predrilled on the side, you can choose either a single offset or double offset supply line.

Single offset supply lines are lines that run to the floor on a parallel angle. These are best matched with the spread of the rough INS that has the same circumference as that of the faucet holes.

Double offset supply lines are designed with a slight curve in them and they will tend to not run parallel to the floor. The double offset tends to be more favored but it will ideally come down to your circumstances. Double offset supply lines are very similar in design to pressure balance systems. These pressure balance systems keep the water in your clawfoot bathtub at a constant temperature by using a mixing device that will keep the fluctuations in the water at a constant pressure.
In some circumstances, both types of supply lines may not work due to factors that include: tub too close to the wall or in a basement bathroom with a concrete floor. Instead Bathcock elbows are used with a flexible stainless steel hosing system for a clawfoot bathtub.
